Founded in 1978 in Miami, Florida, UIMPEX-America del Sur opened its branch in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, in 1980, which serves as the main office today. In 1999, UIMPEX-America del Sur was recognized and awarded for the BEST TOURISM PRODUCT OF THE YEAR with the program "KNOW BOLIVIA FIRST," becoming known in major tourism guides as "the most creative tourism operator in Eastern Bolivia." Our team has included diplomats, explorers, artists, and scientists. Currently, America del Sur/Uimpex operates from a historic colonial house surrounded by over 210 species of birds, foxes, monkeys, and jochis that thrive in our private natural heritage reserve called "Las Garzas," located near the Lomas de Arena Park. We channel the benefits of tourism toward the protection of more than 45 protected areas in Santa Cruz, covering 50% of the region.
